Shirley Phipps

Shirley M. Phipps, 74, of Slippery Rock passed away Sunday at the Grove City Medical Center.

Shirley was born June 16, 1940, in Butler, the daughter of the late Cyril Campbell and Ina Jane McMillen Campbell.

Shirley graduated from Franklin High School. After graduation, she married Earl Phipps May 16, 1959, and he survives.

Shirley enjoyed traveling throughout the country looking at different lighthouses. Her and Earl's vacations where centered around which lighthouse they were going to see.

Her sons have great memories as children playing baseball with their mom in the yard. Shirley ran a busy household. Not only did she raise her four sons, she was a foster mother to numerous children. She also ran a day care out of her home, watching local children.

She provided her family many baked goods and cooked them delicious meals. Shirley battled multiple sclerosis for 35 years. Shirley loved the Lord and was a Protestant.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Earl, of Slippery Rock; her sons, Edward L. Phipps of Grove City, Brian E. Phipps of Florida, Eric Phipps of Prospect and Daryl Phipps of Oakdale; her six grandchildren, Helen, Martin, Wesley, Austin, Connor and Tyler; her two sisters, Marlene Brown and Cynthia Spencer, both of Cabot; and her brother, Wendell Campbell of Petrolia.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Stanley Campbell.

Phipps— A memorial service for Shirley M. Phipps, who passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015, will take place at 11 a.m. Friday at Barkeyville United Methodist Church, 5420 Pittsburgh Road, Harrisville, with the Rev. Kenneth Hughes officiating from the New Covenant United Methodist Charge.The Larry E.
