Butler Twp. Police
3:47 p.m. Tuesday — One person was hurt in a three-vehicle, chain-reaction crash on New Castle Road near Wendy's restaurant. Misty Plunkard, 35, of Butler, one of the drivers, suffered a minor injury but refused medical treatment.
The crash happened when a car driven by Samantha J. Henry, 18, of Butler rear-ended a vehicle driven by Tammy Gerlach, 41, of Butler. The collision forced Gerlach's vehicle into the back of Plunkard's vehicle.
Police cited Henry for driving at an unsafe speed.
7:30 p.m. Monday — Justin P. Werner, 35, of Petrolia apparently suffered a heroin overdose in a car at the Walmart parking lot at Butler Commons. Police said he was in the car waiting for his family to get done shopping.
Werner is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
9:18 p.m. Sunday — Denton Krapf, 38, of Saxonburg was found with suspected marijuana and other contraband following a traffic stop on New Castle Road. Krapf is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Grove City Police
Tuesday — Someone overnight pried open a car door to a vehicle in the 200 block of Gilmore Avenue. Nothing was reported stolen. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.
Monday — An unknown burglar ransacked an apartment in the 100 block of Gilmore Avenue. Property was damaged but a police report did not indicate if anything was stolen in the break-in that happened between 6:30 and 10:44 p.m.
State Police, Butler
Noon Wednesday — Seven youths are accused of drinking alcohol at Karns City High School in Karns City. Police said the suspects were cited for underage drinking.
Monday — Shelly M. Foulk, 42, of Butler was arrested for allegedly bouncing two checks for a combined $2,447.09 this month at the Butler Veterinary Associates and Emergency Center on Route 8 in Center Township.
Foulk on April 4 brought her dog in for treatment, for which she wrote a check for $885.75. The dog was treated and the defendant on April 9 wrote a second check for $1,561.34.
When the veterinary clinic processed the checks, according to court documents, both were returned. The first check was written on a closed account and the second check was written on an account that could not be found, police said.
The business sent Foulk a 10-day notice to pay, but that went unanswered.
She was arraigned on a felony charge of theft by deception and a misdemeanor charge of bad checks. She was released on her own recognizance following arraignment.
April 21 — A 36-year-old Pittsburgh woman is suspected of using a Clinton Township man's identity to try and open a fraudulent credit card account. The company notified the 60-year-old victim, and the attempt to open the account failed.
Police did not identify the suspected identity thief. The investigation continues
2 a.m. April 18 — Devin E. Cunningham, 25, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after a crash on Route 8 at the GetGo store in Butler Township.
April 17 — The state police fire marshal's unit is investigating a small fire at a home on Buss Lane in Clinton Township. No one was injured in the fire that caused an estimated $10,000 in damage to the home, owned by the estate of Robert Buss.
11:18 p.m. April 15 — Harold S. Allen, 50, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of DUI after a crash on Glenwood Way at Route 8 in Center Township.
State Police, Kittanning
10:52 p.m. Wednesday — Coty J. Podgornik, 52, of Natrona Heights was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 128 in Freeport.
Tuesday — An unknown rubbish dumper or dumpers discarded numerous unwanted items and black, plastic garbage bags full of trash over a wooded hillside on Quigley Hill Road in East Franklin Township.
Police said the waste, which also included tire, household items and a mattress, was dumped without the owner's permission. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-543-2011.
6:44 p.m. Monday — Troopers seized 107 stamp bags of suspected heroin following a traffic stop on Route 28 in North Buffalo Township. Police suspect the driver, a 21-year-old Kittanning woman, was under the influence.
The woman, who police did not identify, was later taken to ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township for a blood test. The alleged drugs were found on the driver and her passenger, a 27-year-old Kittanning man.
Charges are pending toxicology results and state police crime lab analysis of the suspected heroin.
12:50 a.m. Sunday — A pickup truck driven by Joseph J. Mysliwiec, 56, of Kittanning crashed into a guardrail on Route 68 just east of Kittanning Hollow Road in Bradys Bend Township.
State Police, Mercer
6:24 a.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Todd E. Scharba, 45, of Orangeville, Ohio, struck a deer on Route 62 in Sandy Lake Township.
State Police, New Castle
Tuesday — Police reported that an unknown identity thief made online purchases using a Slippery Rock Township woman's personal information. The investigation continues.
