Arthur C. Hollerman
Arthur C. “Art” Hollerman, 91, a lifelong resident of Zelienople, passed away Saturday surrounded by his loving family.
Born Feb. 21, 1924, in Zelienople, he was the son of the late Frank and Goldie V. (Meyers) Hollerman.
Art was a member of English Lutheran Church in Zelienople. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II while stationed in North Africa and Italy. He was a lifetime member of Zelienople American Legion Post 474, where he had the honor of serving as post commander on three separate occasions. Art also served as a 26th District Commander in 1988 and the Butler County Commander in 1992. He was a member of Slippery Rock VFW Post 6231, the Forty & Eight La Societe des Quarante Hommes et Huit Chevaux and Sharing and Caring Inc. where he served as a former vice president.
In 1992, he was the recipient of the National Veterans Affairs Volunteer Services award. Art was a 44-year volunteer at VA Butler Healthcare, where he accumulated 9,618 hours. He was the chairman emeritus of the Hospital Entertainment Department of Harrisburg. Art's accomplishments in relation to the commitment he had for his country and all of the organizations he belonged to are immeasurable. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends and fellow veterans.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving daughter, Janice DeHart and her husband, Mark E. Sr., of Zelienople; four grandchildren, David Galat Jr. of Ellwood City, Jennifer Galat of Ellwood City, Mark E. DeHart Jr. and his wife, Maria, of Zelienople and Arthur R. DeHart and his wife, Kari, of Brighton; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler Galat of Zelienople, Cierra Baker of Evans City, Madison Graeff of Fombell, Zoe Galat of Ellwood City, Catalina DeHart of Zelienople, Lyla DeHart of Zelienople and Wyatt DeHart of Zelienople; and his sister-in-law, Dot Hollerman of Zelienople.
In addition to his parents, Art was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Betty Hollerman, who passed away May 17, 2009; and his siblings, Luther F. Hollerman, David Hollerman, Goldie Gilland, Ruth Balazs and infant sister Dorothy Hollerman.
HOLLERMAN — The family of Arthur C. “Art” Hollerman, who died Saturday, March 28, 2015, will welcome friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A funeral ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev.
