Kenneth R. Barker
Kenneth R. Barker, 92, of Lancaster Township passed away Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospice House in Marshall Township.
Born April 6, 1923, in Dilliner, Pa., he was the son of the late Plummer and Madeline (Pinnell) Barker.
Kenneth was a longtime faithful member of Harmony-Zelienople United Methodist Church in Zelienople. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a pilot during World War II.
He retired from MSA as a chemical engineer after many years of dedicated service.
Kenneth served on the Seneca Valley School Board for more than 20 years and also on the planning commission of Lancaster Township.
After retirement, he was an active team member, driving vehicles for the Manheim Auto Auction until the age of 90. During his free time, Kenneth enjoyed cutting grass on his property, hunting, fishing and golfing. His most memorable golf experience would be shooting a double eagle at Krendale Golf Course in Butler. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 70 years, Janice (Morris) Barker, who he married Aug. 12, 1944; two children, Debbie Walter of Zelienople and Dave Barker and his wife, Rebecca, of Texas; and four grandchildren, Angela Valdez and her husband, Jacob of Texas, Matthew Walter of Zelienople, Jack Barker and Dana Barker both of Texas.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his son, K.R. Barker II; his son-in-law, Dwight Walter; and his sister, Jean Berry.
BARKER — A memorial service for Kenneth R. Barker, who died Tuesday, April 7, 2015, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harmony-Zelienople United Methodist Church, 123 N. Pittsburgh St., Zelienople, with the Rev. John K.
