Robert Hayes Buss, 89, of Saxonburg passed away Friday at the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born July 23, 1925, in Sewickley, he was the son of the late Ivan Buss and Ellis (Jackson) Buss.

Bob was a graduate of Moon Township High School. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran, serving in Normandy. He was the recipient of the Victory Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Medal with 1 Star, the Philippine Liberation Medal and the European, African, Middle East Medal with 1 Star.

He worked as union carpenter. Bob was a member of St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Saxonburg American Legion 683 and the Saxonburg VFW 7376, serving as past commander. Bob had over 5,000 hours as a volunteer at the VA Butler Healthcare Medical Center. He enjoyed bowling, boating and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his sons, Robert P. Buss of Leechburg, David C. Buss (Teresa Cypher-Buss) of Cabot and James D. Buss of Saxonburg; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his dog, Lefty; and several brothers and sisters.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor D. Buss; and several siblings.

BUSS — Friends of Robert Hayes Buss, who died Friday, April 17, 2015, will be received Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.Services will be held Monday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The Saxonburg VFW and Saxonburg American Legion will conduct military honors at the funeral home.Interment will follow in Saxonburg Memorial Church Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
