Plug project
Butler Junior High School eight grader Gina Cotton of Oak Ridge Drive applies stars to a fireplug near the Butler County Courthouse on May 30, 1975. The painting project, a bicentennial program of the Sparkplugs Committee of the Butler Area Chamber of Commerce, was conducted with the help of art students in the Butler schools. Slogan and Revolutionary-era symbols were painted on the city’s hydrants to prepare for the nation’s 200th birthday celebration in 1976.
