Dorothy Welker

Dorothy Hipple Welker, 91, of Harrisburg, formerly of Chicora, passed away April 24 at Grane Hospice in Harrisburg.

Dorothy was born in Chicora on July 14, 1923. She was the daughter of Allen and Helen Titley Hipple.

Dorothy was a 1941 graduate of Chicora High School. She was of a Lutheran.

During World War II, Dorothy was a “Rosie the Riveter” at Armco Steel in Butler. After the war, she continued her employment at Armco in the accounting department.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Welker was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Chuck” Welker.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan; one sister, Nancy Curzi and her husband, Bob, of Blufferton, S.C.; and two nephews, Scott Curzi and his wife, Stephanie, of Apollo, Pa., and Bob Curzi of Oil City, Pa.
