HARRISBURG — Families that buy coverage at full cost through Pennsylvania’s Children’s Health Insurance Program won’t face federal tax penalties in 2015 now that the program’s benefits are expanding.

Gov. Tom Wolf’s administration said Thursday changes to the plans ensure the benefits meet coverage requirements of the 2010 federal health care law.

Wolf’s administration says it was notified by the federal government late last month. Wolf’s administration also says the about 3,600 families that buy the coverage will see no premium increases during the current policy year.

Among the additional benefits included in full cost CHIP plans are a prohibition on annual and lifetime dollar limitations for specific services, such as dental and orthodontic care, durable medical equipment and glasses.
