Marie Kniess
Marie Carolyn Phillips Kniess, 80, of Zelienople passed away peacefully unday while at Passavant Retirement Community.
Born Nov. 13, 1934, in Zelienople, she was the daughter of the late William and Ruth (Brown) Curry.
Marie was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Zelienople. She retired from bartending at Zelienople American Legion, where she was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary.
In her free time, Marie enjoyed going to the casino and visiting Geneva on the Lake. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
Marie leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Erik Phillips of Zelienople; her sister, Martha Henry of Zelienople; her sister-in-law, Barbara Curry of Zelienople; her nieces, Diane (Greg) Miller and Linda Neill, both of Zelienople; her nephew, David Henry of Arlington, Va.; her stepson, Charles (Sherrie) Kniess; her stepdaughter, Robin (Bob) Davey; her stepdaughter and caregiver, Karen (John) Kwiatek; her stepson, Ken (Maureen) Kniess; six step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and her beloved cat, Baby.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her first husband, William Phillips, who died in 1987; her second husband, Charles Kniess, who died in 2009; one son, William “Billy” Phillips, who died in 2009; and one brother, Charles Curry.
KNIESS — The family of Marie Carolyn Phillips Kniess, who died Sunday, May 10, 2015, will receive friends from 4 p.m. until the time of the funeral ceremony at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, with the Rev. Wilfred Goetze officiating.Marie will be laid to rest privately at St. Paul's Cemetery in Zelienople.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marie's honor to the Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Rd., Renfrew, PA 16053.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with Marie's family at www.boylanfuneralhome.com.
