Rita M. Claypool
Rita M. (Girardi) Claypool, 78, of Butler, formerly of Freeport, passed away on Wednesday while under the care of Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and surrounded by her family.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff on Sunflower Way and Amedisys Hospice.
Born Oct. 25, 1936, in Natrona Heights, Harrison Township, Allegheny County, she was the youngest of six children of the late Joseph and Marie (Trettle) Girardi.
Rita was a graduate of Freeport High School. She grew up working in her parent's grocery store, Girardi Market, in addition to working at the former Jack's Restaurant and Freeport Foods. She was a member and past president of the Freeport Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Rita loved visiting her camp at Smith Grove and even worked at the store there. At the campground, she enjoyed riding her golf cart and spending time with friends and family. In her free time, she also enjoyed playing bingo, dancing and going out to eat. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved husband of 37 years, Raymond D. Claypool; her loving children, Richard (Rhonda Sue) Swartz of Buffalo Township, Deborah (David W.) Coward of Freeport and Margaret Swartz of Butler; her five grandchildren, Jason R. Swartz, Sophia Grace Swartz, David W. Coward II, Vincent W. Braden Jr. and Brandy L. Braden; her great-granddaughter, Jayla Amari Hernandez; her four-legged friend, Kimber; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph, Albert and Karl Girardi; her sisters, Emma Paluselli and Helen Burski; her father-in-law, Alton Claypool; and brother-in-law, Robert Stewart.
CLAYPOOL — Funeral arrangements for Rita M.
