County symphony wins award, names executive director

The Butler County Symphony Association will receive the 2015 Butler County Community Champion award at a luncheon Wednesday under a tent in Diamond Park.

Maestro Matthew Kraemer will attend and perform live with accompaniment from pianist Bryan Helsel.

The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the park on South Main Street across from the courthouse.

Symphony appoints executive director

The symphony’s board of directors and executive committee have appointed Pearl Fannin-Walker as executive director.

Fannin-Walker, originally from Bruin, is a graduate of Robert Morris University and earned a certification of small business management from the University of Pittsburgh Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business.

Before accepting the position with the symphony, she was an operations consultant with McDonald’s USA based in Oak Brook, Ill.

She serves on the board of directors for Connecting2Tomorrow.

Also, new officers elected at the annual meeting are Joseph Kecskemethy, president; Patricia Stagno, vice president; Clinton Champagne, secretary; Charles Stitt, treasurer; and T. Edward Wadding; president emeritus.
