Helen Bristen

Helen Bristen, 88, of Renfrew passed away Saturday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born April 25, 1927, in Lyndora, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas Kashcik and Julia (Uram) Kashcik.

Helen had been a beautician, a homemaker and a part owner of the Lyndora Bakery. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora, had enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and also socializing with her customers at the bakery.

Surviving are her son, George P. (Debra) Bristen of Fenelton; one step-granddaughter, Nicole Amerson of Chicora; and one step-great-grandson, Brody.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Bristen, who she married May 30, 1953, and who died Nov. 14, 2004; her sister, Julia Olen, and her brother, Nicholas Kashcik.

BRISTEN — Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 105 Kohler Ave., Lyndora. The Rev. Leo Schlosser, pastor, will officiate. Internment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Butler.Parastas services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
