James Hilliard

James “Randy” Hilliard, 73, of Prospect passed away Monday at his home.

He was born April 16, 1942, in Butler, the son of the late James Gilmore Hilliard and Margaret (Fleeger) Hilliard Barkley.

Randy was a retired insurance broker. He was a barber for more than 50 years, worked as Prospect borough secretary for over 30 years and worked as a tip staff at the courthouse for 10 years.

He was a member of the Syria Temple, Shrine Motor Corp., New Castle Consistory, and belonged to the Harmony Lodge 0429. Randy was a former member of Prospect Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, deacon and trustee. He also was past president and assistant chief of the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving are his wife, Karen E. (Lepley) Hilliard, who he married Oct. 9, 1965; two daughters, Erin R. (Brian) Craig of Irwin and Ellin J. (Brian) Rue of Conroe, Texas; one son, Eric (Kimberly) Hilliard of Prospect; six grandchildren, Justin, Dalton, Elijah, Collin, Keaton and Gracie; one brother, Robert (Maris) Hilliard of Pittsburgh; and one nephew, James Robert (Susannah) Hilliard.

HILLIARD — Friends of James “Randy” Hilliard, who died Monday, June 8, 2015, will be received from 5 p.m. until the time of service at 8 p.m. Friday at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.Masonic service will be held at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Friday.
