Peter Iole

Peter R. Iole, 86, of Erie, formerly of Mars, died Thursday morning at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie.

Born in Pittsburgh and a graduate of Duquesne University, he was the Grand Duke mascot and also a member of Alpha Phi Delta.

Pete was longtime educator for the Pine-Richland School District, serving in teaching and administrative roles. He also had been the owner of Emergency Denture Repair Service in Mars and North Hills.

He was a member of the St. Kilian Church, where he formerly taught religious education to children and served as eucharistic minister. He also belonged to the Mars Kiwanis Club, the Mars Chamber of Commerce, the Mars Historical Society, the Italian Sons and Daughters of America and was active in the Comtra Theater.

He held the rank of sergeant in the U.S. Army and taught for the Department of Defense in Spain, Germany and Italy for 10 years.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Maria (Leone); two sons, Peter J. (Bozena) of Erie and John E. (Amy Ceraso) of Pittsburgh; two daughters, Jacqueline Woodward (Earl III) of Mars and Jennifer Iole-Groen (Daniel) of Ft. Collins, Colo.; six grandchildren; two brothers, Anthony of Oakmont and Edward in Florida; a sister, Dorothy Migliozzi of Delmont; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

IOLE — Friends of Peter R. Iole, who died Thursday, June 11, 2015, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Kilian Church, corner of Clark and Cherry streets, Mars, with the Rev.
