Elizabeth Duncan
Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Thiele Duncan of Saxonburg passed away Saturday.
Betty was born on Dec. 18, 1923, to Charles and Emma Marie “Mary” (Hilbig) Thiele of Natrona.
She was a graduate of HarBrack (now Highlands) High School and attended Robert Morris Business College. She worked in the office at Joseph S. Finch Co., Schenley, Pa., before her marriage.
On Nov. 16, 1946, she married Homer W. Duncan of Saxonburg at the Faith Lutheran Church, Natrona Heights.
Betty was a member of the Glade Run Presbyterian Church, and a former member of the Middlesex Presbyterian Church in America where she served as a deacon aide, and she was a member of adult Sunday school class.
She enjoyed cooking and baking, crocheting, gardening, reading and visits from her family. She donated may crocheted lap robes to nursing homes and for clients at Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by her children, Judith A. (Robert) Snyder, Linda M. (David) Carney, William C. (Jean) Duncan and Karen L. (Frank) Halstead, all of Saxonburg; eight grandchildren, Brian and Scott Snyder of Saxonburg, Gregory Carney and Susan Carney Sande of Beaver County, April Duncan Preuss of Wyoming, James Duncan of Sarver, Megan Halstead Roth of Butler and Melissa Halstead of Saxonburg, eight great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Duncan was preceded in death by her husband, Homer, in 2002; grandchildren, Rebecca Sue Carney and Ryan E. Halstead; two brothers; and two sisters.
DUNCAN — Friends of Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Thiele Duncan, who died Saturday, June 13, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Glade Run Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia, with the Rev. Greg Wiest officiating.
