Richard L. Sanders
Richard L. Sanders, 84, of Butler passed away Thursday at the VNA Hospice after a brief illness.
Born Jan. 27, 1931, in Butler, he was the son of Chester L. Sanders and Alberta R. Kerr.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany.
Richard retired as a machinist from Armco after 32 years.
He was known for lending a helping hand any chance he had. He enjoyed gardening, photography, nature and his dog, Mia. He advocated for the creation of the Butler County Vo-Tech school.
Richard was a loving husband to Shirley for 64 years; the father of Holly A. Cranmer-Gasparin (Mark) of Butler, Daniel (Mary Anne) of Bairdford, Dennis (Gwen) of Conneaut, Ohio, Heidi Germain (Chris) of Philadelphia and Timi Miller (Hank) of Gibsonia; the brother of Norman Sanders (Donna) of Seneca, Mary Jane Williams (Richard) of Oil City, Susan Kahle (William) of Seneca and Martha Tarr (Donald) of Oil City; and the grandfather of 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
SANDERS — At the request of Richard L. Sanders, who died Thursday, June 25, 2015, a private memorial service for family will be conducted later.Memorial donations may be made to the VNA Inpatient Hospice at 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.
