Margaret R. Thomas, 83, of Slippery Rock, formerly of Big Beaver Borough, died Friday in the home of her daughter with whom she lived.

Born Jan. 16, 1932, in Beaver Falls, she was the daughter of the late Mathias Schied and Charlotte (Cox) Schied Miller.

She was a member of the Morado Faith Tabernacle Church, was an oil painter, did pottery and was a former active member of the Ellwood City Art Club.

Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law: Patricia Thomas of Slippery Rock and Nancy and Harry Emery, of Darlington, Pa.; four grandchildren, Wendy Bable and her husband, Rick Olmos, Ben Bable, Mathias Bable and Tom Emery; brother, Donald Schield of West Mayfield; two sisters and brother-in-law, Sylvia (John) Harn of West Mayfield and Jane Miller of Oregon City, Ore.; and caretaker and long time family friend, Cynthia Powell of Slippery Rock.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth R. Thomas, Sr.; a son, Kenneth R. Thomas, Jr.; and a brother, Quinn Joseph “Joe” Schied.

THOMAS — Friends of Margaret R. Thomas, who died on Friday, June 26, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the A.D. Campbell Funeral Home, 1326 Eighth Ave., Beaver Falls, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday.Private interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Big Beaver Borough.Her family would like to give a special thank you to Southern Care Hospice for the passionate care given to Margaret.
