Clarence Talkington

Rev. Clarence Jesse Talkington, 86, of Butler joined his Heavenly Father Saturday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Butler.

He was born June 9, 1929, in Folsom, W.Va., the son of Robert Pearl and Carrie Mae (Price) Talkington.

The Rev. Talkington honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps before joining the U.S. Navy, where he retired in 1971.

He pastored many small churches in the area over the years. The most important aspects of his life were family and his service to the Lord.

He will be missed by his son, Henry David Talkington of Butler; four daughters, Leona Singleton and her husband, Randal, of North Muskegon, Mich., Pauletta Hardison and her husband, Richard, of Waynesville, N.C., Laura Robertson and her husband, Edward, of Gates, N.C., and Bessie Jo “BJ” Zeedyk and her husband, Ron, of Gainesville, Va.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents.

TALKINGTON — The family of the Rev.
