Man arrested after chase

He's accused of fleeing police on motorcycle

CLEARFIELD TWP — A Cherry Township man was arrested Wednesday after leading state troopers on a high-speed motorcycle chase Tuesday evening, police said.

Police said a Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by William K. Dellich III, 27, was going 88 mph when it sped past a patrol car along Route 422 at about 5:15 p.m.

The trooper pulled behind the speeding motorcycle heading westbound and turned on his emergency lights and sirens, according to court documents.

However, at that time Dellich sped up and turned right onto Game Reserve Road.

Once on that road, Dellich continued driving at a high rate of speed, failed to stop at stop signs and passed other vehicles in the opposite lane of traffic, according to documents.

Dellich then turned onto Route 68, where three other troopers were traveling northbound.

When Dellich realized troopers were behind him, he fled again, turning north onto Route 38, documents said.

Dellich continued speeding around other vehicles, eventually making his way onto Boydstown Road in Oakland Township. The pursuit was terminated by police due to safety concerns shortly later.

Police were able to see the registration plate on the Harley during the chase, which was registered to Dellich.

The defendant’s mother later told police Dellich left home at about 5 a.m. that morning on his motorcycle.

Dellich is facing three felony counts of fleeing a police officer, as well as charges of recklessly endangering another person, illegally operating a vehicle without ignition interlock, operating a vehicle without proper registration or a proper license, operating a motorcycle without a helmet, speeding, careless driving, reckless driving and numerous other traffic lane and signal violations.

He was placed in Butler County Prison on $15,000 bail and later bonded out.

Dellich also was charged with simple assault stemming from an unrelated incident.
