Dorothy M. Allen, 75, of Butler passed away Monday evening at her daughter's home.

Born July 8, 1939, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late William J. Heller and Anna (Katchur) Heller.

She was the beloved wife of the late Robert M. “Bob” Allen for 45 years. They married Dec. 31, 1958, and he died Dec. 8, 2003.

Dorothy retired in 2006 after working for the Butler County Planning Commission for 23 years.

She was a Reach to Recovery volunteer for 10 years and also a volunteer at the VA. She enjoyed traveling, biking and spending time with family and friends. She is known by many for her loving kindness and giving heart. She was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Butler and attended Prime Timers at the Christ Church at Grove Farm, Sewickley.

She was the loving mother of Lori (Allen) McDonnell and her husband, Jamie, of Seven Fields.

She was the devoted grandmother of Brendan, Sean and Brian McDonnell.

She is also survived by one sister, Ruth Leopold (late husband, Vaughn) of Cabot; one brother, Tom Heller and his wife, Joan, of California; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was one sister, Jeanne Heller of California, and one brother, William Heller of Pittsburgh.

ALLEN — Friends of Dorothy M. Allen, who died Monday evening, June 29, 2015, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be at the North Side Cemetery, Butler.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., Butler, PA 16001, or Good Samaritan Hospice of Pittsburgh, 3500 Brooktree Road, Suite 320, Wexford, PA 15090.
