Virginia R. Crummy
Virginia R. “VA” Crummy, 88, of Middlesex Township, Valencia, passed away Wednesday morning at Saxony Health Center in Saxonburg.
Born Feb. 6, 1927, in Middlesex Township, she was the daughter of the late Andrew J. and Effie Morrow Lisman.
In 1948, she graduated with 37 classmates in the last Cadet Nursing Class at Butler Memorial Hospital. VA was a registered nurse and had worked as the supervisor for the operating room at Butler Memorial Hospital for 10 years. She then took time off to raise her family and then worked as a floor nurse for 25 years.
She was a lifelong member and former deacon of Glade Run Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday s school and was elementary youth director for 10 years.
VA was active in the Royal Grange and was a volunteer with South Butler Community Meals on Wheels.
Surviving are her husband, W. Donald Crummy, who she married Aug. 30, 1952; two sons, William Crummy and his wife, Martha, of Richland Township and David Crummy and his wife, Kristen, of Butler; her grandchildren, Matthew, Tyler, Ellen and John Crummy; her great-grandchildren, Carter Jacob and Shae Lynn Crummy; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Gladys Truver, Dorothy Lisman, Mary K. Stone and Hazel Wilson, and her brothers, Andrew and Charles Lisman.
CRUMMY — Friends of Virginia R. “VA” Crummy, who died Wednesday, July 1, 2015, will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave. Mars.Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia, with the Rev.
