Man charged with theft of $4,700 from former employer
OAKLAND TWP — A Jefferson Township man faces a hearing Tuesday on charges he bought cigarettes, alcohol and other items using his former employer's credit card.
David Lee Herold, 29, was arraigned last week on three felony charges in the case. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $25,000 following his arraignment.
Herold's preliminary hearing is at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday at the office of District Judge Lewis Stoughton in Chicora.
State police allege Herold racked up $4,711 in unauthorized purchases with the business credit card of Orloski Landscape Management in Oakland Township.
In all, according to court documents, Herold made 81 illegal transactions between Dec. 15, 2014 and Jan. 12, when he worked for the firm.
Police on Jan. 20 interviewed Herold, who confessed to the crime. He admitted he started using the credit card “just prior to Christmas in order to buy gifts,” documents said.
Along with alcohol and cigarettes, he acknowledged that he charged the company for other personal expenses, like gas and food.
He is charged identity theft, access device fraud and theft by deception.
