Seneca hires principal

HARMONY — The Seneca Valley School District has hired Matthew Delp as the new intermediate high school principal.

Delp has been the assistant principal of North Allegheny Intermediate High School for the past three years, according to a release from the district.

While at North Allegheny, he created a professional development program, led science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) initiatives, and coordinated Keystone Exam administration.

Delp has two years of experience as an assistant principal at Pine-Richland High School and one year as the assistant principal at Freedom High School, the release states.

He also spent six years in Seneca Valley as a science teacher before moving into administration. He also did his administrative internship at Seneca Valley High School and Haine Middle School.

In 1999, Delp graduated with a bachelor’s in biology from Allegheny College. He earned a second bachelor’s in biology education from Indiana (Pa.) University and a master of public management from Carnegie Mellon University.

He is working on his doctorate in administrative and policy studies at the University of Pittsburgh.

Delp is replacing Jodie Perry, who left the district for family reasons, the release states.
