Robert S. “Bob” Podobensky, 66, of Lyndora, passed away at 7 a.m. Wednesday at the VA Butler Healthcare.

He was born Jan. 4, 1949, in Butler, to the late Stephen Podobensky and Mary Ann Podobensky.

Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in the Vietnam War. He worked as a Motor Vehicle Operator at the VA Hospital on Highland Drive in Pittsburgh until his retirement in July 2012. Bob was Catholic by faith and was a member of the American Legion 778 of Lyndora and the Slovak Club in Lyndora. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, casino trips and spending time with his grandkids.

Bob is survived by his wife, Donna Podobensky, who he married June 10, 1977; one son, Brian Podobensky of Butler; one daughter, Kathy Gray of Lyndora; five grandchildren, Dalton, Ashton, Ben, Logan and Emma; one brother, Richard Podobensky and his wife, Doris of Butler; one sister, Carol Podobensky of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Ricks; and one brother, Jim Podobensky.

PODOBENSKY — Friends of Robert S. “Bob” Podobensky, who died Wednesday, July 22, 2015, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.A blessing service will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Father James Murphy of St. Fidelis Catholic Church officiating.Officers and members of the American Legion Post 117 of Butler, the American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora and the VFW Post 249 of Butler, will conduct military honors at the Butler County Memorial Park.Burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society of Butler, P.O.
