COMMUNITY LIFE

The annual church service and picnic in the park will be at 11 a.m. Sunday. A short church service will be at the Rotary Shelter at Butler Memorial Park, 380 Evans City Road. A picnic will follow. Take a large side dish. Children’s activities will be available. There also will be a building fund offering Sunday.

Sunday’s service schedule at First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will include a 6 p.m. worship service in addition to regular Sunday morning activities.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., will have a church picnic at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Camp Lutherlyn, 500 Lutherlyn Lane. A sign-up sheet with details is available in the social room.

Children returning to school may take their backpacks to Sunday worship services for a special blessing.

Choir rehearsals will resume at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 3. The choir will sing at the late service Sept. 13.

Grace@Calvary Lutheran

Grace@Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., will celebrate its 125th anniversary with worship Sunday followed by a luncheon at 11:30 a.m.

Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., will have Worship Without Walls at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the Masonic Shelter, Alameda Park, 184 Alameda Park Road. The praise team will provide special music.

The annual church picnic will follow the service. Take a salad or side dish to serve at least 10 people. Hot dogs, desserts and beverages will be provided.

SAINT ANDREWS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., will have the annual blessing of the backpacks during worship Sunday. All students and teachers may bring their backpacks for the blessing and a gift.

To help set up, serve or clean up with the community dinner team or to bake a cake, call Terri Bonnett or the church office. The dinner is the first Wednesday of every month.

ST. PAUL ROMAN CATHOLIC

St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., will have a Mass in Spanish at 2 p.m. Sunday.

The blessing of the backpacks will be at the 5:30 p.m. Saturday service and the 10 a.m. Sunday service.

The Christian education ministry will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
