John S. “Jack” McMurdo Jr., 84, of Bowling Green, Ky., departed this life Aug. 7 in Bowling Green.

The Evans City native was born on June 3, 1931, to the late John S. McMurdo Sr. and Anna L. Peterson McMurdo. He was married to Catherine J. Gibson McMurdo, who survives.

He was a Korean War and a Vietnam War veteran, who retired as a master sergeant with the U.S. Army. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Moose Lodge and the Concorde General Baptist Church.

Besides his wife, he leaves to honor his memory one son, John McMurdo (Lynn) of Roundhill, Ky.; five daughters, Vickie Joyner (John) of Florida, Karen Jaggers of Louisville, Ky., Tisha Sloan (Joe) of Horse Cave, Ky., Jackie York of Bowling Green, Ky., and Billie Smith (Rickey) of Smiths Grove, Ky.; one sister, Annabelle Eichler of Zelienople; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Alma E. Reimer.

MCMURDO — The interment for John S. McMurdo, who died Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, was at the Pleasant Union Church Cemetery with full military honors.
