Longtime Seneca school board member resigns
JACKSON TWP — After 16 years on the Seneca Valley School Board, Robert Hill Jr. resigned effective Monday night.
Hill said his resignation was for professional reasons and because his term was up.
“My time has come. A new school year deserves a fresh start and fresh faces,” he said. “The board was certainly capable moving forward without me, but it was time.”
Board President Eric DiTullio said Hill served for five years as president and three as vice president so half of his time was in a leadership role.
“So for the 352 board meetings that you attended, countless number of special meetings, contract negotiations, IU meetings … You are part of what Seneca Valley was, what Seneca Valley is and what Seneca Valley always will be,” DiTullio said.
Superintendent Tracy Vitale said this is not goodbye.
“You are not done with Seneca Valley, and we are not letting you be done,” she said.
“We appreciate all that you have done for Seneca Valley and all the children that you have impacted and there is a reason you were in our life and there is a reason we were in your life.
“And I would like to think we are way more blessed then what you’ve been with us in your life.”
Linda Andreassi, director of communications, said Hill’s seat on the board will remain vacant until after the Nov. 3 election. Hill did not seek re-election.
Susan Harrison is the only person running for his seat in District Region 3. She would take office in early December.
