3-vehicle crash this morning sends 2 to hospital
BUTLER TWP — A head-on crash this morning on Saxonburg Road sent two people to the hospital and one of the vehicles into a cornfield.
Police said a Pontiac G6 was traveling north on the road at 8:46 a.m. when its male driver lost control and collided head-on with a Hyundai Sonata traveling south, near the road's intersection with Bullcreek Road.
The crash injured both drivers, who were alone in their vehicles. Their names were not immediately available.
The man driving the G6 was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital complaining of head and knee pain, police said. The woman driving the Hyundai also was taken to the hospital after police determined she was disoriented.
Police said the force of the impact spun the Hyundai around and caused it to hit a third vehicle, a Chevrolet Impala which was carrying two people. No one in that vehicle was injured, police said.
The crash closed down much of Saxonburg Road for about an hour.
