David Bruce Cooper
David Bruce Cooper, 61, of Slippery Rock, Worth Township, Butler County, passed away Friday at the Butler Veterans Affairs Community Living Center following an extended illness.
David was born July 10, 1954, to Frank McClelland Cooper and Betty Lois Patterson Cooper. He married Anita Elaine Jones on Sept. 26, 1989. She preceded him in death on July 20, 2014.
David graduated Slippery Rock High School in 1972, and he served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1973 to 1975 as an electricians mate 3rd class. He graduated from Penn State in 1981.
After graduating from college, he returned to work in the family business, Cooper's Lake Campground, in Worth Township where he was president for many years. Dave enjoyed traveling, especially to Australia, fishing, reading, working with his bulldozer building roads and gaming.
Dave is survived by his stepdaughter, Lisa Walton of Ellwood City; three grandsons, John Uber II, Jimmy Davidson and Josh McCracken and his wife, Tawnie; his mother, Betty Cooper of Slippery Rock; two brothers, Kenneth Eugene Cooper and Alan Frank and his wife, Linda Cooper; two sisters, Judith Ann and her husband, Fred Brezel, and Cindy Lynn and her husband, Tom, Metcalf; two nephews, James Michael Brezel and his wife, Maylene, and Jeffery Tracy; and his niece, Adriane Brezel, all of Slippery Rock.
COOPER — Family of David Bruce Cooper, who died Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 12:30 p.m. until the service at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Thomas Meling, pastor of the Zion Baptist Church, presiding.Interment will be at the Zion Baptist Cemetery, Worth Township, Butler County.Memorial contributions may be given to the Zion Baptist Cemetery, Worth Township, Butler County.
