Harold R. Atkinson

Harold R. “Ray” Atkinson, 71, of Cranberry Township, formerly of Canton, N.C., passed away Friday morning at the LAS St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars.

Born Sept. 10, 1944, in West Deer Township, Pa., he was the son of the late George and Dorothy McClure Atkinson.

Harold had been a truck driver for Shields Paving and then worked as a shipping and receiving clerk for the Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center.

He had been a member of the Canton Presbyterian Church in Canton, N.C.

Surviving are his wife, Lois E. Harris Atkinson, who he married on May 8, 1965; his son, Jeffrey Atkinson and his wife, Cathy, of Sacramento, Calif.; his grandchildren, Zachary Atkinson and Victoria Douglas and her husband, Jeremy; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Judy Mawhinney of Inwood, W.Va.; two brothers, Thomas Atkinson of Roseville, Calif., and James Atkinson and his wife, Marilyn, of Techapi, Calif.; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert G. “Rob” Atkinson.

ATKINSON — Friends of Harold R. “Ray” Atkinson, who died Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, are invited to a memorial service at 11 a.m. Thursday at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.Memorials may be made to the Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Rd.
