Carmella “Clara” Agostino Leone
Carmella “Clara” Agostino Leone, 86, of Slippery Rock passed away at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 18, 1929, in Wick, Slippery Rock Township, to Natale Agostino and Mary Josephine Tartaglione Agostino. She married James Richard Leone May 2, 1953.
She was a licensed beautician and had worked in the cafeteria at the Slippery Rock School District from 1967 until 1993.
She was a member of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Forestville. She loved cooking and baking, especially for family and friends. She liked completing board and crossword puzzles, and she most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and other family members.
Survivors include her husband, James Leone at home; her son, Timothy R. Leone and his wife, Valarie, of Meadville; three sisters, Teresa DeCola, Roseanna Tackett and Mary Ann Nill; and her brother, Frank Agostino, all of Slippery Rock.
Also surviving are two grandchildren, Timothy C. Leone and his wife, Katie, of Valencia and Patrick S. Leone of Dormont, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dominick and Nicholas Agostino; her sister, Catherine Agostino; three sisters-in-law, Shirley, Geraldine and Arlene Agostino; and three brothers-in-law, Mario DeCola, Edward Nill and Garland Tackett.
LEONE — The family of Carmella “Clara” Agostino Leone, who died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, 232 Boyers Road, Forestville, with the Rev. Kevin Poecking presiding. Interment will be in Slippery Rock Cemetery.
