Robert H. Scherer
Robert H. Scherer, 75, of Ross Township, formerly of Mars, died Monday afternoon following a fall.
Born April 15, 1940, in Pittsburgh's North Side, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Mathilda Killmeyer Scherer.
Bob was the owner of Bob Scherer Locksmith in Pittsburgh's South Side.
He was a life member of the Millvale Sportsman's Club and was an avid trap shooter and hunter.
Bob loved to dance and enjoyed making wine and sharing it with his friends.
Surviving are his former wife, Barbara Noll Scherer; three daughters, Deborah Brill (the late Robert), Susan Kelly (Jim) and Amy Petro (Mark), all of Mars; his son, Benjamin Scherer (Tina) of Allison Park; his grandchildren, Benjamin Scherer (Katelyn), Robert Brill III, Amy MacKrell (Barry), Harmonie Torchia (Tom), Ashley Schoonmaker (Brandon), Jocelyn Scherer (Phil), James Kelly III, Kayla Holt (Roy), Lucas Kelly, Sara Petro and Jack Scherer; his great-grandchildren, Cody MacKrell, Maxx Scherer and Everly Torchia; two sisters, May Helmstaedter of Zelienople and Dorothy Schneider (Bob) of Pittsburgh; three brothers, Ralph Scherer (Emma) of Valencia, Regis “Mickey” Scherer (Peggy) of Gibsonia and James Scherer (Sandy) of Pittsburgh; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his in-laws, Frank and Clara Noll; his sisters, Ruth Nickle and Betty Scherer; and his brothers, Benjamin, Herman and Charles “Ed” Scherer.
SCHERER — Friends of Robert H. Scherer, who died Monday, Oct. 19, 2015, will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.A blessing service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev.
