Crash on I-79 this morning injures driver
WORTH TWP — A New York man was injured this morning in a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 79 in northern Butler County.
The 23-year-old man, whose name was not immediately available, was partially thrown from the vehicle he was driving north in Worth Township shortly before 8 a.m., authorities said.
A portion of the interstate was closed to allow a STAT MedEvac helicopter to land on the highway and fly the man to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh. The extent of his injuries were not known but rescuers said he remained conscious after the crash.
State police are investigating but an accident report was not available.
Portersville Volunteer Fire Department and Portersville and Slippery Rock EMS crews assisted.
