James “Jim” William Semanco

James “Jim” William Semanco, 69, of Midland died Monday at his home.

He was born Aug. 7, 1946, in Butler to the late John and Helen (Sherba) Semanco. He attended Butler schools and later received his master's degree from Penn State University.

Jim began working for the Dow Chemical Co. in 1972. He continued to work for Dow Chemical until his retirement in 2005.

On Sept. 9, 1972, he married the former Donna Cipolla in Lyndora.

Jim was an active member of the St. George Byzantine Catholic Church, Bay City. He was an avid Nittany Lions fan and loved working in his wood shop. Jim and Donna enjoyed spending time in Ludington, Mich. Jim always put his family's needs before his own.

Jim is survived by his wife, Donna; his daughters Jennifer Semanco and Jamie Semanco, both of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and granddaughter, Helena.

He also is survived by his brother, David Semanco of Virginia; his nieces, Lindsay Wick and Anja Semanco; and his nephews, Evan Wick and Aidan Semanco.

The family wishes to thank all those actively involved in Jim's care.

SEMANCO — Funeral services for James “Jim” William Semanco, who died Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, will take place at 11 a.m. today at the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 W. Wheeler St. The Rev. David A. Hannes, pastor of St. George Byzantine Catholic Church, will officiate with interment to follow at the New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.Jim's family received friends at the funeral home Thursday and again at 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the service. A vigil service took place Thursday evening at the funeral home.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. George Byzantine Catholic Church, 204 N. Van Buren St., Bay City, MI 48708.
