Gordon Byron “Butch” Reaugh

Gordon Byron “Butch” Reaugh, 73, of Portersville, Muddy Creek Township, passed away at 12:50 a.m. Thursday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born Jan. 3, 1942, in Meridian to Byron McCoy Reaugh and Eleanor Agnes Bauder Reaugh. Butch married Barbara Rogene Hall Thompson on May 31, 1980.

He retired as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver, working in commercial and road construction. Earlier in his career, he had worked at Matthews Conveyor in Ellwood City.

He was a Protestant and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the military police during the Vietnam War.

In 2012, he received his 50-year pin as a member of the Portersville Muddy Creek Township Volunteer Fire Department, where he had served in various capacities including president and treasurer.

He loved cars and enjoyed playing euchre, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara at home; his stepson, James E. Thompson and his wife, Cindy, of Mims, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Sherry L. Thompson and her wife, Lesa, of Tallahassee, Fla., and Stacy L. Wayne and her husband, Jeff, of Lebanon, Ohio; two sisters, Lois Clouse and Beverly Kyper, both of Portersville; six step-grandchildren, Alyssa, James, Brayden, Spencer, Elizabeth and Nicholas; and his beloved cat, Ernie.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

REAUGH — The family of Gordon Byron “Butch” Reaugh, who died Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015, will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 4 p.m. Saturday at theSmith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.A memorial service will be observed at the funeral home at 4 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Dana Opp, pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Portersville, presiding.Memorial contributions may be given to the Portersville Muddy Creek Township Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 248, Portersville, PA 16051. Interment will be in the Portersville Presbyterian Church Cemetery
