Norman R. “Dick” Tuck
Norman R. “Dick” Tuck, 83, formerly of Hooker, passed away Wednesday at St. Barnabas Nursing Home in Gibsonia.
He was born Dec. 5, 1931, in Butler, the son of the late Benjamin and Frances (Brandon) Tuck.
Norman graduated from Butler High School in 1950, then attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.
He served in the U.S. Army in Germany as a military police officer. He worked locally as an insurance investigator for several years then joined the staff of Blue Shield insurance in Harrisburg, where he worked his way to upper management.
After leaving Pennsylvania, he moved to California, where he became the head of help line volunteers for the Rev. Robert Schuller's ministry at the Crystal Cathedral in Los Angeles.
He returned to the Butler area in 1993. He lived at Greystone Manor in Slippery Rock for the past several years. He was a member of the Center Presbyterian Church in Slippery Rock.
Norman was always an upbeat and positive person, and he enjoyed traveling to New York City and London to see musical productions. He had a large collection of Broadway memorabilia, which he donated to Slippery Rock College.
Norman was also a lay minister and filled in for vacations at a number of local churches.
Surviving are two sisters, June Marie Johnston of Butler and Diana McAnallen of Concord, N.C.; and his brother, Melvin Tuck of Butler.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John Tuck.
