James Kent Sankey
James Kent Sankey, 68, of Meridian, Miss., passed away Sept. 7.
Jim was born Aug. 6, 1947, in Meridian, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond J. Sankey and Harriet G. (Gillis) Sankey; and his sister, Kathleen (Sankey) Cardoza.
Jim was surrounded by family during his last days including his wife of 45 years, Beverlye A. Sankey; his daughter, Vanessa (Chuck) Vega Braun; his son, Doug Vega; and his grandchildren, Thaddeus Braun, Tobias Braun, Taira Oravetz and Shaina Vega.
Jim also had support from other family members including his son, Rick Santana; his great-grandchildren, Devean Braun, Emanuel Smith Braun, Jade Braun, Julia Mayhugh and Zachariah Oravetz.
Also surviving are his brothers, John (Betsy) Sankey, Paul (Charlotte) Sankey and Charles (Carol) Sankey; and his sister, Sharonbeth (Russ) Brauksieck; and his loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jim was an active member of the Boy Scouts including being a member of the Order of the Arrow. He graduated from Butler High School in 1965.
Jim served in the U.S. Naval Aviation at NAS Patuxent, Md., with weapons testing on Orion P3 aircraft, which sparked his love of military airplanes.
After discharge, Jim worked at Pullman-Standard in Butler, and then his career led him to Mosler Safe Co., Diebold and ADT, installing safes, banking equipment and security services.
