Butler Twp. PoliceSunday — Police completed an assault investigation that began on Aug. 15 after officers were called to the parking lot of the Belmont 2 at Bon Aire Plaza for a fight. Police said Darrin Kriess, 48, of Chicora and Zachary Kennedy, 22, of Butler, have been charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.7:20 p.m. Saturday — Police said Deanna Britt-Edwards, 23, of Delaware was driving a Honda Accord on Staley Avenue when she was hit head-on by a Kia Sportage driven by Brian Sharpe, 23, of Butler, which was traveling south on South Duffy Road and crossed into the road’s northbound lane before the crash.Police said Sharpe fled the accident and was later identified. He was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident with injuries and placed in Butler County Prison. The owner of the Kia, Dale Bertino, no age or address given, was cited for not having liability insurance.Friday — Police said Daniel Yingwane, 29, of Cranberry Township was driving south on Pittsburgh Road beneath Picklegate when she lost control of her vehicle while going around a curve and hit a hillside. Police said their investigation continues and charges are pending.2:21 p.m. Wednesday — Police said Maryann E. Weimer, 70, of Butler pulled out of Young Avenue and hit a vehicle driven by Cary Checkan, no age or address given, which was traveling west on Whitestown Road. Police said Weimer suffered minor injuries, and Checkan was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.Weimer was cited for a stop sign violation and Checkan was cited for driving with an expired license.2:24 p.m. Wednesday — Police charged David London Jr., 42, of Oil City with retail theft, defiant trespass and driving with a suspended license after he allegedly attempted to steal $147 in merchandise from Wal-Mart at Butler Commons.3 p.m. Dec. 22 — Police arrested Jodi L. Dotts, 53, of New Castle for retail theft after she allegedly attempted to steal $143 in merchandise from Wal-Mart.2:28 p.m. Dec. 14 — Police charged Justin Zarnick, 32, of Butler with attempted theft by deception and receiving stolen property after he allegedly attempted to return $177 in stolen merchandise to Wal-Mart. Zarnick also has an bench warrant for failure to appear, which is unrelated to the case.1:28 p.m. Nov. 30 — Police arrested Michael W. Roman, 39, of Butler for theft after he allegedly attempted to steal a push mower from posted property along New Castle Road.
State Police, Butler9 a.m. Monday — Christian Manny, 20, of Summit Township reported unknown suspects broke into her home in the 100 block of Hyvue Lane and stole a television valued at $150.
State Police, MercerDec. 14 — Someone stole a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and numerous other items from a property along Mercer Butler Pike in Liberty Township, Mercer County.Police said the suspects broke into a trailer by cutting off a padlock on its back door and stole the motorcycle, valued at $10,000.The suspects then broke into a garage through a window and stole a leather sewing machine valued at $1,200, as well as a portable generator and a bench top drill press.The suspects fled undetected. The property belongs to Alan E. Bowen of Harrisville.
