Donald A. Double
Donald A. Double, 86, of Chicora passed away Sunday morning at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born April 4, 1929, in Chicora, Don was the son of the late Anthony and Mae Hilliard Double.
Don was a graduate of Chicora High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and served as a sergeant with the military police during the allied occupation of Japan.
Donald is survived by his wife, Catherine V. Kolich Double, to whom he married April 7, 1950, at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Bradys Bend.
Don had been employed as a maintenance foreman at the Indspec Chemical Co. in Petrolia. He retired in 1995 following many years of well-respected service.
He enjoyed hunting, golfing, fly fishing, reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with his family. Don was a member of the Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church in Chicora. He was a member and past commander of the Chicora American Legion Post 642 and also a life member of the Chicora VFW Post 7876. He was a member and past president of the Chicora Rotary Club and was a Chicora Borough Councilman for a number of years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Victoria Jackson and her husband, John, of Karns City; his son, Anthony Double and his wife, Lori, of Dilliner, Pa.; three grandchildren, Joshua Shulik and his wife, Jacklyn, of Hainesville, Ill., Eric Jackson of Harrisburg, Pa., and Emily Double of Dilliner; his brother, Wayne Double and his wife, Judy, of Karns City; his sister, Janet Cunningham and her husband, Wayne, of Saxonburg; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Maxine and Leo Benson of Butler and Jo Ann and Larry Fleeger of Chicora; and a number of beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Gogal; his brother and sister-in-law, Curtis and JoAnne Double; and his nephew, Jamie Cunningham.

Double, who died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015, will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church, 409 N. Main St., Chicora, with the Rev. Richard Thompson, church pastor, officiating.Military honors will be accorded at the church following the funeral mass by the Chicora, Bradys Bend and East Brady American Legion posts and the Chicora VFW Post.Interment will follow at the Hemphill Cemetery, Chicora.Memorial contributions may be made to the Chicora Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Service, P.O.
