SUGARCREEK TWP, Armstrong County — The state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of a fire on Wednesday that destroyed a detached garage on Route 268.

Police said the blaze caused about $63,000 in damage to the garage, which is owned by 80-year-old Lawrence L. Everetts.

Emergency crews about 6:45 p.m. responded to the property that is just over the Butler County line.

The Chicora and Petrolia volunteer fire departments assisted crews from Sugarcreek, East Brady, Worthington and East Franklin Township.

Firefighters were there until about 8:15 p.m.

Police said Everetts suffered minor injuries during the fire.
