Man accused of assault
BUTLER TWP — A Beaver County man is accused of slugging his former girlfriend in the mouth, dislodging her two front teeth, and slamming her head into the steering wheel during a “rolling domestic” dispute after the two attended a New Year’s Eve party, authorities said.
Butler Township police on Friday arrested Joseph A. Frazzini, 46, of Rochester on felony assault and other charges in connection with the altercation that left Jennifer Daugherty with a bloody mouth and swollen jaw, according to court documents.
Daugherty told police that she was driving her car about 2 a.m. Friday when Frazzini, who was riding in the front passenger seat, struck her with the back of his left hand while they were stopped at a red light at Whitestown Road and Route 68 in Connoquenessing Township.
He also allegedly punched her in the face with his right fist, police said. A short time earlier, the two had left a party together.
A police affidavit noted that the couple are the parents of a 7-year-old daughter. Daugherty also had a protection from abuse order against the defendant at the time of the alleged assault.
Daugherty said that while eastbound on Whitestown Road in Butler Township, her ex-boyfriend called her a derogatory name and threatened to kill her.
A short time later in the area of Home Avenue, documents said, the defendant grabbed the back of the woman’s head and “began slamming it against the steering wheel three or four times.”
Daugherty recounted that she nearly lost control of the car during the suspected assault but she eventually arrived back at her township home — missing two front teeth.
Her stepson, who was at the house, later recovered the teeth from the car. He still had them in his hand when police got to the home.
Officers said they found Daugherty seated at the kitchen table. She was crying and holding paper towels to her bleeding mouth. The front of her sweat shirt also was blood stained.
Along with the dislodged teeth, police said, she had a cut to the inside of her upper lip and swelling to the left side of her jaw.
Patrolman James Sasse, while looking through the car, noticed blood on the steering wheel, driver’s seat, gear shift, ceiling and back door, documents said.
District Judge Sue Haggerty shortly before 10 p.m. Friday arraigned Frazzini on charges of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment.
Additionally, he was charged with violating Daugherty’s PFA order.
During the video arraignment, the defendant told Haggerty that he is unemployed and the father of seven children between the ages of 7 and 29.
He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail following arraignment.
