Butler man in custody for Evans City shooting
Police say a Butler man who was wanted in connection with a suspected drug rip-off scheme that left an Evans City man hospitalized with a gunshot wound is in custody.
Evans City-Seven Fields Regional Police say the man, 21-year-old Jahote C. Dorsey Jr., and an accomplice planned to rob Oliver Philogene when they went to his home in Evans City Saturday night.
But 21-year-old Philogene, after having the 9 mm pistol pointed at this head, grabbed the gun, which went off and hit him in his right forearm.
Dorsey is charged with attempted first-degree murder, robbery and other charges.
Butler City police reportedly were the lead agency in bringing Dorsey to the Butlert County Prison, but did not immediately give any details about his arrest.
Investigators have not identified Dorsey’s accomplice, who they believe fired the shot.
The accomplice has not been arrested.
