Marion Norton Dobson
Marion Norton Dobson, 91, of Houston, Texas, and of Mars passed away Friday evening.
Born May 1, 1924, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Averill B. Norton and Ethel Irvine Norton, both of Mars.
She was a 1942 graduate of Mars High School and a 1946 graduate of Muskingum College, where she received a bachelor's degree in English.
Marion was active in the Mars community. She helped start the Mars Junior Women's Club and served as president. Marion was involved with starting the kindergarten program for the Mars community and served on the board of the Mars Public Library. Marion enjoyed attending the Butler County Symphony concerts and served on the Butler County Symphony Association board from 1960 until 1974.
Marion enjoyed family, music, reading, shopping, travel and especially sports. She loved attending games and watching her beloved Pittsburgh sports teams and the Houston Rockets.
She is survived by her daughter, Dianne D. Howard and her husband, Dennis, of Girard, Pa.; her son, Parker K. Dobson and his wife, Sharon, of Houston, Texas; her grandchildren, Debra (William) Greenleaf of Girard, Pa., Drew (Megan) Howard of Girard, Pa., Darren (Lauren) Howard of Atlanta, Ga., Laura Howard of New York City, Kelly (Brandon) Risko of Madison, Ala., and Lauren Dobson of College Station, Texas; her great-grandchildren, Ethan and Abby Greenleaf of Girard, Pa., Jane, Annie and Parker Howard of Girard, Pa., Levi and Jack Howard of Atlanta, Ga.; her brother, Charles A. Norton of Mars; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Parker W. Dobson, who she married July 3, 1946, and who died Sept. 13, 2004, and her nephew, Kenneth C. Norton.
DOBSON — Friends of Marion Norton Dobson, who died Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Dutilh United Methodist Church, Mars Campus, Pittsburgh Street, in Mars. The Rev. James Gascoine will officiate.Please meet at the church.
