Robert R. Dodd
Robert R. Dodd, 83, of Bruin passed away Thursday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler.
He was born July 7, 1932, in Fairview, the son of Elmer Raymond and Blanch E. (Ewing) Dodd.
Robert spent most of his life in the Bruin and Fairview area, and he honorably served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member and past elder of the Martinsburg Church in Bruin where he took part in the Bible study group.
For more than 20 years, Robert worked at the former Pullman Standard as a welder until the business closed. He graduated from the Pittsburgh Barber School and operated a barber shop in Karns City and Petrolia.
Robert was an avid reader and liked reading the Bible. He enjoyed gardening, working on cars and playing cards with his wife, Lulu.
Robert loved to talk and would carry on a conversation with anyone who would listen.
His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Lulu Belle (Servey) Dodd, who he married Jan. 23, 1956; a daughter, Holly K. Hartzell and husband, Tommy, of Butler; son, R. Eric Dodd and wife, Linda, of Butler; five grandchildren, Beth Hageman, Kristen Hageman, Tyler Hartzell, Dylan Dodd and Cierra Dodd; three great-grandchildren, Leyland, Kiara, and Olivia; a special brother-in-law, George Servey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Scott D. Dodd who died Dec. 26, 2011; four brothers, Arthur, Eugene, Howard and Kenneth Dodd; and a sister, Mary Dorr.

Dodd, who died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 102 Argyle St., Petrolia.Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jake Adams officiating.Military honors will be presented by the American Legion Post 642 and the VFW Post 7876 following the service at the funeral home.
