William Ambrose

William Ambrose, 89, of Cabot passed away Tuesday at VA Butler Healthcare.

Born Feb. 2, 1926, in Tarentum, he was the son of the late Andrew and Judith (Klinko) Ambrose.

Bill was a U.S. Army veteran, proudly serving in World War II.

He worked at the Butler Mushroom Farm, Pullman Standard and USX Steel in Saxonburg, where he retired from in 1985.

Bill was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church. He was also a life member of the Saxonburg American Legion 683 and the Saxonburg VFW.

Surviving are his loving wife, Mildred Irene (Simmons) Ambrose, who he married July 26, 2003; his son, William D. Ambrose of Butler; stepdaughters, Karen S. McFarland of New Kensington and Kathlene I. (Travis) Moore of Oklahoma; stepsons, Kevin P. Harbison of Brookville, Keith (Tina) Harbison of Brookville, Kurt J. Harbison of Templeton, Pa., and William E. Burke of Cabot; his siblings, Steven (Betty) Ambrose of Cabot, Edward (Pat) Ambrose of Cabot, Olga Johns of Cabot, Dusan (Shirley) Ambrose of Cabot and Ruth Ambrose of Georgia; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jennie A. Lear; his second wife, Dorothy (Fry) Ambrose; one infant daughter; his daughter, Carolyn Rettig; two brothers; and one sister.

AMBROSE — Friends of William Ambrose, who died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015, will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Matthew Barry officiating.
