Ervin R. Werner
Ervin R. Werner, 87, of Butler passed away Wednesday at the Good Samaritan Hospice of Concordia.
Born March 26, 1928, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Edward and Dorothy (Love) Werner.
He was employed by Armco Steel as a machinist in the air brake machine shop. He also served as past vice chairman of the Butler Armco Independent Union. He retired in 1983, following 36 years of service. He had previously been employed by Westinghouse.
He was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and watching all sporting events of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed going to the Butler Sports Hall of Fame Banquets as his son had previously been inducted. Following his retirement, he traveled all over the United States and to Europe, China and Italy.
Surviving are four daughters, Linda (Harry) O'Donnell of Chicora, Connie (Barry) Gannon, Cindy (Frank) Stefanik and Carol (Ron) Weitzel, all of Butler; four sons, Brian (Brenda) Werner of Chicora, Mark (Jan) Werner, Gerard (Colleen) Werner and Eric (Gen) Werner, all of Butler; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, William (Monalene) Werner of Florida and George (Mary) Werner of Butler.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Werner, who passed away Aug. 19, 2015; two brothers; and one sister.
WERNER — Friends of Ervin R. Werner, who died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler, with the Rev.
