Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, will host the Great Backyard Bird Count from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 14. Educator “Appie” Hour will be conducted by Jennings staff from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Feb. 17 for secondary teachers and administrators, with registration requested by Feb. 15. A program on “Backyard Maple Sugaring” will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 27. Registration for these events is available at events.dcnr.pa.gov or by calling 724-794-6011.

Moraine State Park, Muddy Creek Township, will host a two-hour Ground Hog Stomp hike on a section of the North Country Trail departing at 1 p.m. Saturday from the bike rental parking lot on the North Shore. Weather conditions and the preference of the group will determine the distance. If snow is at least 4 inches deep, some snowshoes will be available to lend out.

Succop Nature Park, 185 W. Airport Road, Penn Township, hosts free birding and nature hikes with a naturalist at 9 a.m. Thursdays. Trails are open from dawn to dusk. Call 412-963-6100 or visit www.aswp.org.
