Teddy Marcum Sandifer
Teddy Marcum Sandifer, 58, of Perry Township, Karns City, passed away suddenly Saturday morning at his home of natural causes.
Born in Peru, Ind., on Nov. 27, 1957, he was the son of Waymon and Norma Jackson Sandifer of Jena, La., who survive.
He served more than eight years with the U.S. Army as a ranger, much of his service in Germany.
He was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant and held many awards, some of which were the Army Achievement Award and the NCO Professional Development Ribbon.
Teddy retired two years ago Monday as education co-ordinator for interns and residents at VAMC-Oakland.
He was a member of the DAV.
Baptist by faith, he attended Queenstown United Methodist Church near Karns City.
Surviving are his loving wife, Janet Marie Shawkey Sandifer; his parents; two children, Rachel (Kevin) Hatch of San Diego, Calif., and Marc Joshua (Safa-Ghnaim) Sandifer of Berlin, Germany; grandchildren, Victoria and Graham Hatch; a brother, Steve Sandifer of Jena, La.; and nieces and nephews including Steven and Jeremy Sandifer.
A sister, Lisa Sandifer, preceded him in death.
SANDIFER — Memorial services for Teddy Marcum Sandifer, who died on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2015, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at Queenstown United Methodist Church, with the Rev.
