BUTLER TWP — A 25-year-old Butler woman died in an early morning crash today on Route 8 between the Picklegate Bridge and the Greater Butler Mart.

The wreck happened about 5:05 a.m. when a southbound pickup truck struck Jennifer Matuke walking along the road, according to township police.

Matuke was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. The Butler County Coroner's Office did not immediately know if there would be an autopsy.

The pickup driver, 49-year-old Braden Weitzel of Butler, was not injured.

Police said the crash remains under investigation and they did not indicate if any charges would be filed.
