Butler PoliceTuesday — Police filed theft-related charges against two men accused of failing to return equipment they rented separately last year at Kenmac Rental & Sales on South Main Street in Butler.David E. Baker, 49, of Butler and Phillip E. Dailey Jr., 35, of East Brady, Clarion County, both face misdemeanor counts of theft of leased property and theft of services.Baker on Nov. 28 rented a carpet seaming iron for one day. When he did not return the iron, the company Dec. 16 sent him a certified letter that demanded he bring back the item and pay all rental fees, according to court documents.The business is seeking restitution for the value of the iron, $116.60, and rental fees of $98.58.Dailey on Aug. 31 rented a carpet knee kicker for one day. The business sent him a certified letter Sept. 16 after he failed to return the item.Kenmac is seeking restitution for the value of the carpet kicker, $137.50, and rental fees of $80.56, documents said.Monday — Crystal A. Darby, 50, of Butler was charged with misdemeanor retail theft stemming from a shoplifting incident last year at the Rite Aid store on South Main Street.Darby, who has one prior shoplifting conviction, is accused of stealing $12 worth of shampoo at the Rite Aid on March 4, 2015.8:45 a.m. Jan. 26 — Amy L. Allaman, 35, of Butler allegedly struck a sport utility vehicle’s side mirror with the SUV she was driving on College Street. She did not stop.A neighbor saw the crash and provided police with the license plate number of the suspect’s vehicle. Police ran the plate and identified Allaman, who admitted hitting the vehicle while driving up and down the street, according to a police report.She told police that before she left, she tried unsuccessfully to find the vehicle she struck. Police cited Allaman for hit-and-run.

Butler Twp PoliceThursday — Tasha N. Saeler, 25, of Butler was arrested stemming from a shoplifting incident last month at the Butler Commons’ Walmart. Police said Saeler ripped off merchandise valued at $9.81 before fleeing the store.A three-time convicted shoplifter, Saeler was arraigned on a felony count of retail theft and a summary charge of disorderly conduct. She was released on her own recognizance following arraignment.Thursday — Police charged Shaney May Hockenberry, 43, of Slippery Rock in a rear-end collision last month on the Picklegate Crossing. Hockenberry struck the back of another vehicle and then allegedly fled the scene.In addition to hit-and-run, police cited her for driving without insurance, reckless driving and careless driving.2:01 p.m. Wednesday — Jennifer Stevenson, 33, of Butler allegedly shoplifted $119.77 in merchandise from the Walmart at Butler Commons. Stevenson is charged with retail theft.Wednesday — Austin J. Rusch was charged with driving while huffing canned air stemming from a one-vehicle crash about 11:05 p.m. on New Castle Road near Butler Commons. Police said Rusch was huffing air duster when he lost control of his vehicle, hitting and shearing off a utility pole.He is charged with driving under the influence of a solvent or noxious substance, illegal possession of solvents, inhaling a toxic-releasing substance and unauthorized use of a vehicle, all misdemeanors.Police also ticketed Rusch for driving without a license, reckless driving and careless driving.Wednesday — Police charged Deborah Ann Kepple, 58, of Butler with allegedly shoplifting $295 worth of merchandise Jan. 28 at the Walmart at Butler Commons. She is charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property.2:59 p.m. Tuesday — Brittany D. Williams, 25, and Noah McDowell, 34, both of Fenelton were caught allegedly shoplifting 20 items at the Butler Commons’ Walmart. Police charged both suspects with retail theft. Williams, who was previously barred from the store, is also charged with defiant trespass.9:55 p.m. Sunday — A teenager landed in trouble with the law after he got into a fight with a 56-year-old Butler man in the parking lot of the GetGo on Route 8 north. Police cited Noah S. Burnside, 18, of Renfrew for disorderly conduct and harassment.

State Police, Butler4:15 p.m. Wednesday — A minor fire damaged an industrial facility at Fruehauf Manufacturing on Route 422 in Muddy Creek Township. The fire marshal’s office ruled the accidental blaze was started by the careless disposal of smoking materials.No one was injured. Damages was estimated at $350.

State Police, Gibsonia1:06 a.m. Wednesday — A pickup truck driven by Johnny N. Mays, 72, of Freeport struck a deer on the Turnpike just east of Old State Road in Pine Township, Allegheny County. Neither Mays nor a passenger was hurt but the truck had to be towed away.
